Does espresso machines take a special type of cofee ?

recently bought a espresso machine and wAs wondering if it took a secial kind of codes or if I could just use my regular o’clock coffee?

Espresso is a particular size grind. There are espresso beans but I’m thinking if your coffee is ground correctly then you could use what you have. But it may not taste as good as it’s supposed to.
